Endocrine Health Experts Recently Released Guidelines That Recommend Eating Healthy
Healthy eating and maintaining an active lifestyle are important for everyone. For people with endocrine disorders, focusing on active disease management including strategies to achieve consistent healthy eating and physical activity is vital.
As you already learned in our earlier Moving Forward e-bulletin, Eating Healthy Is Important for Everyone, Including People With Acromegaly, a healthy eating plan is a key part of taking care of yourself physically. Now, the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists (AACE), the American College of Endocrinology (ACE), and The Obesity Society have jointly released expert guidelines that support the importance of a healthy diet for people with endocrine diseases.
Your doctor is a valuable resource to help teach you about healthy eating and meal planning. Ask your doctor what diet and lifestyle changes would be best for you.
General Guidelines for a Healthy Diet
Healthy eating is more than just what you should eat. A healthy diet includes avoiding foods that have a negative effect on your health. And health benefits are gained only when you adopt a healthy eating pattern and stay on it—healthy eating habits need to be maintained over a long time.
